MISSION: ADVENTURE

You Can Be A Good Samaritan

The Better Life Counseling Center

The Better Life Counseling Center, Inc. is a nonprofit, outpatient treatment center.  We offer Christian counseling for individuals, families and couples. Our staff is comprised of highly trained and State Board licensed therapists. Underlying our strong commitment to quality psychotherapy is a Christian perspective, which influences the treatment of spiritual, relational, and mental health issues.

The mission of the Better Life Counseling Center (BLCC) is to provide excellent, professional Christian counseling to individuals, couples and families and to provide enrichment, training and preventive care to families, churches and other organizations.

Early in its existence, BLCC established a 'Samaritan Fund', made up of donations, in order to fulfill its mission without regard to clients' ability to pay.  Using the Samaritian Fund, clients' out-of-pocket expenses may be lowered according to income and circumstances.  Since 1996, over $750,000 has been used from this Fund to help individuals and families get the treatment they need.  In that time BLCC staff have provided over 13,000 hours of counseling.

Established in 1996, the Center is located on the campus of the Southwest Church of Christ in Jonesboro, AR.  It operates under a board of Christian leaders.  Originally founded as an outreach of the Southwest Church, BLCC has expanded its base of support to include other area churches and and array of individuals from the Jonesboro community.  However Southwest Church remains the largest supporter of BLCC, both through budgeted support and its annual Special Contribution.

About Our Therapists

Marriage & Family Therapists are highly trained mental health professionals who bring a family oriented perspective to health care. Treatment will seek to pinpoint problems and conclude as soon as specific, attainable therapeutic goals are met. Studies have shown that by utilizing a family systems approach, the treatment process is shortened, and is more effective in reducing the need for further treatment. By utilizing this approach, quality treatment can be delivered while reducing the overall cost of therapy.
